Abstract

This paper analyzes the gubernatorial election in the State of Mexico through a comparative exercise between the results of the recent 2013 election and the results of previous elections, with a focus on the spatial distribution of the vote. By initially dividing the territory of the state into regions and, in a second phase, into zones, and utilizing a series of electoral indicators, we were able to specify the changes that occurred in each space, their direction and magnitude.
The work is divided into three main sections: the first provides the context in which the process takes place, covering the campaigns and precampaigns, as well as the various strategies employed by the contenders.

The following two sections present an analytical exercise at two levels: one comparing the last two gubernatorial elections in the State of Mexico, 2017 and 2024, and another at a more specific level in District XVII Huixquilucan de Degollado, comparing the most recent election with the intermediate election of 2021.
